Le Brun Siblings of Pierre Le Brun

Chapter 43.1

Pierre and Susanne Le Brun had eight children:

  • 43.1.1 – Susan Le Brun (1809)
    • Remained at home with her father and sister Nancy; helped in the bakery business (1861)
    • Retired by 1871; living with her niece, Helena Croad, a shopkeeper in 1901

  • 43.1.2 – Pierre Le Brun (1812-1873)

  • 43.1.3 – Jane Le Brun (1818-1861)
    • Married George Jordan Dorey (1822-1859) in St Helier in 1844
    • George was a master mariner and they lived in St Helier in 1861
    • No known children
    • After his death, she was a ‘house proprietress’ i.e. she had a tailor and his wife as lodgers
    • By 1881 she was a lodger herself, and a dressmaker

  • 43.1.4 – Nancy Le Brun (1822)
    • At home at the bakery in 1851, taking in laundry
    • Remained at home with her father and sister Susan; 
    • Took in laundry or ironing all her life
    • Lodged with a grocer in St Helier in 1881 and with a draper’s assistant in 1891; ironer

  • 43.1.5 – Maryanne Le Brun (1826-1879)
    • Baptism and living at home at age 15 all that is recorded

  • 43.1.6 – Sophia Le Brun (1827-1881)
    • Married Clement Joseph Le Sueur (1824-1886) in St Helier in 1849
    • Clement was a builder, employing several boys in 1851; she was a dressmaker
    • By 1861, he was a ship carpenter 
    • After Clement’s death, Sophia was a grocer 
    • Children:
      • Sophie Le Sueur (1851)
      • Clement Joseph Le Sueur (1853)
      • Alice Ann Le Sueur (1858)
      • Helena Jane Le Sueur (1860)
      • Horace Le Sueur (1860)

  • 43.1.7 – Moses Le Brun (1830)
    • Blacksmith
    • Married Susanne Cabot (1830) in 1852 in St Saviour
    • No known children

  • 43.1.8 – John Le Brun (1831)
    • Carpenter, then ship carpenter
    • Married Ann
    • Children:
      • John Le Brun (1855)
